Overview

Beginning in 2006, demand amongst our customers for a web-based AVL (Automatic Vehicle Location) application, based on Geocortex IMF, began to grow. As a result, we built Fleet Tracker for Geocortex IMF, a web-GIS based AVL solution using ESRI’s ArcIMS. Fast forward several years, and with the adoption of ArcGIS Server gathering steam, our clients asked us (again!) to move our AVL application to the ArcGIS Server platform. The result – Geocortex Fleet Tracker.

As an off-the-shelf software product supported via maintenance, Geocortex Fleet Tracker has an ongoing roadmap that promises enhanced features as ArcGIS Server, and Fleet Tracker itself, mature. Organizations can take advantage of new additions to ArcObjects, the ArcGIS Server REST API and enhancements to the ArcGIS Silverlight API, as well as feature additions made to the Geocortex Fleet Tracker server-side REST API, management/ administration application, and Silverlight, client-side (browser) application.

Geocortex Fleet Tracker, by its very design, is highly extensible. Guided by the needs of our technically-savvy clients and international distributors (who implement our software daily), we architected Geocortex Fleet Tracker to support (via SDK):

• Customizable “collectors” to interface to any GPS device on the market
• Customizable, server-side business logic

Our automated installer allows organizations to install the software in under 5 minutes, though configuration and optional customization will typically consume most of the time required to get Geocortex Fleet Tracker up and running (should you choose to self-install).
