Geocortex Fleet Tracker Geocortex Fleet Tracker Workflow Architecture

Product Information

Geocortex Fleet Tracker is composed of three major components: Fleet Tracker Client, Fleet Tracker Server and Fleet Tracker Manager.

Fleet Tracker Client is a Silverlight based web-mapping application that provides fleet managers with a standard set of fleet management tools (geofencing, reporting, monitors, alerts, search, etc.). It is an off-the-shelf application designed to interface to the Fleet Tracker Server REST API as well as ArcGIS Server (if installed).

Fleet Tracker Server is a Windows Service that constitutes the bulk of processing and functionality contained within Geocortex Fleet Tracker. Its primary functions are to collect mobile asset position and attribute data via GPS device (or database), run business logic on said data, insert into a (ArcSDE) database and export fleet and AVL functionality via REST API. The Fleet Tracker Server REST API exports vector representations of groups of assets (“Fleets”), and functions associated with tracking and managing said assets (geofencing, monitors, alerts, search, etc.), supporting multiple client connection types (web, desktop, mobile). This REST API is fully browsable, and is documented via the Geocortex Fleet Tracker Resource Center (please contact us if you’d like to gain access to this). Fleet Tracker Server can be customized, using an SDK, to support virtually any GPS hardware device on the market, in addition to any additional server side processing required by your organization.

Overall application configuration is achieved using Fleet Tracker Manager. Fleet Tracker Manager is an ASP.NET web application that allows Geocortex Fleet Tracker administrators to manage Collectors (the portion of Fleet Tracker Server that collects GPS position and attribute data), Fleets (groups of mobile assets), Business Logic Modules (server side processing) and system configuration (refresh rate, units, etc.).
