Geocortex Essentials Extensions

Extensions: Going Beyond Core Geocortex Essentials

In mid-2012, we introduced our very first extension offerings for our popular Geocortex Essentials platform. These optional licensed extensions are of interest to select customers, and provide specialized capabilities or tighter integration with third-party offerings. More extensions are under development.

About Geocortex Essentials Extensions

While Geocortex Essentials offers a deep set of capabilities, not all specialized features and integration types make sense to include in the product core. For this reason, we engineered Geocortex Essentials to accommodate specialized capabilities via intelligent custom development and optional extensions.

Smart, one-time customization often makes good sense. However, when features or integration of third-party technology/standards are of interest to a sufficient subset of our customers, Latitude Geographics may productize an offering as an optional licensed extension available for general licensing. Clients benefit because development costs are divided across a number of other organizations and because our licensed extensions are in full alignment with the principles driving our Spatial Application Infrastructure approach. Plus, popular extensions that achieve a requisite critical mass of licensees, transition onto a development/maintenance model that yields new features and an update cycle similar to core Geocortex Essentials.

Advanced Editing Extension for Geocortex Essentials

Typical data editing via web-based mapping applications involves relatively simple activities: adding points to a map, updating polygon geometry, or changing attribute values for records in a database. These types of basic web editing are provided to all Geocortex Essentials licensees as part of their standard license.

However, some organizations strive to leverage the web to perform more sophisticated editing operations. The Advanced Editing Extension for Geocortex Essentials is an optional licensed extension that provides additional tools and features to help make possible higher-precision data creation and editing with ArcGIS Server.

Pictometry Extension for Geocortex Essentials

Pictometry is well known for their extensive image library which covers the urban areas of much of the developed world. Oblique imagery can be a very useful tool for planners, emergency responders, assessors, public works administrators and others.

Synchronize Pictometry® Self-Hosting or Pictometry Online ("bird's eye" view) imagery alongside your ArcGIS Server web maps. Pictometry View offers an enhanced user experience, allowing users to view 2D map data alongside oblique and orthogonal aerial imagery by seamlessly integrating with Pictometry.

When you open Pictometry View from the Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight, you can simultaneously interact with Pictometry imagery and 2D map data. The original map tracks movements so that the map and image remain synchronized within the same browser window. Pictometry View makes it possible to locate, search, display, and extract these images. You can also navigate and measure the features on a map, establishing the height, area, distance, elevation, and bearing of a feature in an image, and even switch between orthogonal and oblique views. You are also able to extract a map of a selected area in multiple image formats and print if required.

This extension is a Non-Maintenance Extension.
