HTML5 and Esri-based Web Mapping

Seminar Overview

Thinking about HTML5? With the steady growth in smart mobile devices and with increasing support of the HTML5 standard by modern web browsers, interest in HTML5 is clearly on the rise. However, developers must carefully consider the varying degrees of browser support of different parts of the HTML5 standard. It may still be a year, or several more, before full browser support for the HTML5 standard enables wide-spread adoption. Until then, a pragmatic approach works best.

But don't let that hold you back. Some sections of the HTML5 standard are already relatively stable and close to complete and can be applied to build cross-platform mobile applications today in ways not possible before.

This webinar will provide an overview of HTML5 for GIS generalists, theorize on likely timelines around adoption, and provide information to help you ensure that your organization is positioned to embrace this important standard at the right time. We will also demonstrate some examples of HTML5 technology being used in getting things done in the real world.

This free webinar will be of interest to GIS administrators, GIS managers and analysts currently using Esri's ArcGIS for Server platform. The presentation will take about 30 minutes, but please allow for an additional 15 minutes for Q&A at the end.
