Geocortex News

Keeping our customers informed is very important to us. We mostly do this through our blog, our newsletter (which is mailed quarterly; you are welcome to subscribe) and Twitter. Not to mention a variety of scheduled events throughout the year including our annual user conference.

We are therefore selective as to what we consider newsworthy here. We are regularly winning and delivering successful projects, forging new business partnerships, hiring exceptional people, expanding into new markets, exhibiting and presenting at conferences worldwide, releasing product updates, and developing new offerings.

Developers can now easily add custom controls to viewer pages, embed map viewers within external applications, and make available our viewer enhancements to their ArcGIS Server applications.

"When we decided to release a service pack ahead of the next major release, we saw it as a great opportunity to add new functionality that had been fully completed and tested ahead of schedule", explains David Stevenson, CTO at Latitude Geographics, "and these enhancements give developers new tools and processes to accelerate development of true next-generation ArcGIS Server applications."

05/08/2007 Geocortex Essentials 1.1 for ESRI's ArcGIS Server 9.2 Released

VICTORIA, BC - Engineered from the ground-up as extension software for ESRI's next-generation ArcGIS Server 9.2 and .NET ADF technologies, Latitude Geographics unveiled Geocortex Essentials 1.1 during the plenary session of the 2nd Annual IMF/Geocortex User Conference on April 30, 2007.

"It is clear that organizations are recognizing the value of ESRI's Application Developers Framework, which is ESRI's development foundation for the future," notes David Stevenson, CTO of Latitude Geographics, "so we've invested more than five thousand hours of development to create core tools and streamline the process of building real-world ArcGIS Server applications using the .NET version of Web ADF."

Latitude Geographics is the first web-GIS firm to release a software product to enhance the powerful ADF foundation provided by ESRI. "We expect Geocortex Essentials will appeal primarily to organizations that wish to remain closely aligned with ESRI's ongoing technology direction," continues Stevenson, "As ADF evolves, Geocortex Essentials will grow and expand with it-without having to reinvent the wheel or play catch-up."

Geocortex Essentials provides tools, features, and other enhancements to ESRI's default Web ADF viewer, but also provides powerful site management tools to simplify the process of creating and managing multiple applications.

"Our goal is to make ArcGIS Server as ‘out-of-the-box' as possible for developers and implementers," explains Steven Myhill-Jones, President & CEO of Latitude Geographics, "A Geocortex Essentials license provides an immediate and compelling return on investment, and that value will continually increase as Geocortex Essentials, Web ADF and ArcGIS Server evolve."

01/25/2007 Geocortex Essentials 1.0 for ESRI's ArcGIS Server 9.2 Released

VICTORIA, BC - Engineered from the ground-up as an extension to ESRI's ArcGIS Server 9.2 and .NET ADF, Latitude Geographics is proud to announce Geocortex Essentials 1.0. Available now, this next-generation product provides tools and features enabling users to more quickly create web-based applications.

"We originally planned to release Geocortex Essentials 1.0 at the end of March 2007, but clients told us they wanted a first release sooner so they could start building applications with some key functionality not provided as part of ESRI's 9.2 product," explains Drew Millen, Product Manager at Latitude Geographics, "This initial release includes several already completed core tools that clients can leverage immediately"

While licensing Geocortex Essentials 1.0 eliminates the cost and redundancy of recreating several tools, it is the upcoming Geocortex Essentials 1.1 that comprises the complete next-generation release. Geocortex Essentials 1.1 will provide many new tools and features, including an architecture for building and managing .NET ADF applications for ArcGIS Server.

"We have focused our Research and Development on products providing functionality to assist clients with their transitions to ESRI's 9.2 technology," explains Steven Myhill-Jones, President & CEO of Latitude Geographics, "From our work integrating our popular Geocortex IMF with ESRI's next-generation technology to Geocortex Essentials, our objective is to do for ArcGIS Server what we did for ArcIMS-simplify life for our clients."

Prior to the official release of the comprehensive Geocortex Essentials 1.1 product, Latitude Geographics is licensing Geocortex Essentials 1.0 at a reduced cost and licensees will be upgraded to the new release.
