As a licensed Application Service Provider and manager of numerous co-located ArcIMS installations on behalf of clients, Latitude Geographics helps monitor and manage dozens of ArcIMS sites 24/7/365. In 2001, with mounting administrative responsibilities associated with managing the growing Internet geography architecture for which we are responsible, Latitude Geographics developed a suite of software modules to optimize ArcIMS architecture management.

Due to ongoing client interest, Latitude Geographics embarked on a project to productize these modules that have been developed, tested, and implemented over several years. After a comprehensive design review, the addition of numerous new features, and careful streamlining for commercial licensing, Geocortex Uptime was released as an affordable off-the-shelf software product in July 2004.

Geocortex Uptime includes monitoring modules that go beyond standard website monitoring software. Geocortex Uptime constantly monitors ArcIMS Mapservices, servers, and related links to ensure improved application uptime. Geocortex Uptime includes a logical foundation for the product to automatically troubleshoot and correct problems as soon as they arise. While it can't automatically recover from all types of system failures, if a site goes down and does not become available within an administrator-specified amount of time, Geocortex Uptime can quickly notify the administrator by email or pager with a summary of issues.

Geocortex Uptime also enhances and extends the administrative tools that ship with ArcIMS. It streamlines the tasks associated with ArcIMS Administrator by efficiently storing configuration files, facilitating advanced management of configuration files and Mapservices, and providing emergency fail-over settings.
