Geocortex for Educational Use
Esri provides extensive no-cost access to ArcGIS technology for use by K-12 institutions, and low-cost access for post-secondary educational use. Latitude Geographics offers a similar program to remove barriers to access for educators who wish to integrate installed Geocortex software into their curriculum and research. The core objectives of the Geocortex for Educational Use Program are to help students learn about the power of web mapping and get experience working with industry-leading application development tools that make use of geographic information.
- Geocortex Essentials software
This is a software donation program, with a few extras. - Three-year term license
- License grants are valid for terms of three years, at which time utilization and project success will be reviewed; our vision is for deployments to continue long-term.
- Software maintenance is complimentary for the duration of the license.
- Reduced rates for training and support
- Access to the Geocortex Support Center is provided for free as a self-service resource, and includes access to community forums, knowledge base articles, and code galleries to help developer and administrators exchange work.
- Two seats in the online Getting Started with Essentials training course will be offered at a discounted rate of $200 per student. For each additional training course a discount of 50% off standard rates will be applied.
- If required, educators can access Geocortex professional services and telephone/email technical support at a reduced rate (15% discount), contingent on resource availability.
- Two annual complimentary Geocortex User Conference passes
Two complimentary Geocortex User Conference registrations provided annually. Registration required. - Annual administrative fee
While Geocortex software is provided at no cost, there is an administrative fee to help cover processing and support costs.
- Set-up and implementation services
Recipients should have available the required technical resources to set-up and implement projects independently, or propose a plan to otherwise ensure successful deployment. - Free support
Support is not free; however, recipients can access Geocortex professional services and telephone/email technical support at a reduced rate (15% discount). - Application hosting
Hosting is not within the scope of this program, and is not permitted.
- Accredited educational institutions
- The Geocortex for Educational Use Program is designed to provide qualified educational institutions with an affordable way for teaching professionals to integrate installed Geocortex software into their curriculum and research.
- This software donation program is intended for in-course use only; deployment for institutional administration or facilities management use is not part of this program.
- Eligibility for non-classroom use by academic researchers is subject to Latitude’s approval on a case-by-case basis, unless contemplated under a specific license agreement.
- This program is currently available in the United States and in countries where Latitude Geographics licenses Geocortex technology directly. This program, or something similar, may be available in other countries through Geocortex Resellers that elect to participate.
- Esri customers
Geocortex software requires Esri's ArcGIS® platform technologies. - Successful applicants
- Educators need to complete a program application, with approval subject to review by Latitude Geographics.
- Latitude Geographics reserves the right to determine eligibility of an educational institution’s candidacy for the Geocortex for Educational Use Program at its sole business discretion. As a result of that eligibility determination, Latitude may either grant or deny an organization's application or participation for any reason. Program eligibility is not subject to external review. Latitude further reserves the right to supplement or amend the program's eligibility guidelines at any time without notice.
Geocortex for Nonprofit Organizations
At Latitude Geographics, we believe that our technology can help make the world a better place. Geocortex software can serve as a powerful asset to help make important decisions that impact real people, the natural world, and society at large.
There are many nonprofit and charitable organizations that have talented people and important mandates; but as registered nonprofit organizations they find themselves with limited funds. We believe deeply in the importance of organizations that strive for positive social and environmental change, and our Geocortex for Nonprofit Organizations Program can provide support by alleviating cost barriers.

- Registered nonprofit or charitable organizations
- Qualified nonprofit organizations include noncommercial entities working on humanitarian, conservation, and community services programs that improve livelihoods and the environment.
- Eligibility is based on formal tax-exempt status as granted within their country (e.g. a 501(c3) designation in the United States) and the type of work an applicant does. Commercial, government, quasi-governmental authorities/agencies (e.g. where aspects of mandate or services are legislated or otherwise required), and education institutions (primary, secondary, or higher) are not eligible.
- This program is currently available in the United States and in countries where Latitude Geographics licenses Geocortex technology directly. This program, or something similar, may be available in other countries through Geocortex Resellers that elect to participate.
